Aman ki Ashes.

January 28, 2010

Unless you have been living under a rock, chances of you missing one of the ‘Aman ki Asha’ ads are highly improbable. Incase you do not live under a rock, and still did not see the ad, here is the link. It is a campaign, started by The Times of India and The Jang Group of Pakistan, and is about promoting peace and friendship between the two countries. Sure.

Who are we kidding here? Normal ties with Pakistan are impossible. A country which has terrorism as its state policy, which is a breeding ground for terror plots, responsible for the unstable situation in the subcontinent. Pakistan has always been consistent in acting in a rogue manner with India. So, how and why do we trust a country like Pakistan? A country like Pakistan, which is a threat to mankind, and regarded as the world’s most dangerous country, has no moral fabric. It can never be trusted to act in a responsible manner.

Pakistan is responsible for the Mumbai 26/11 attacks is a fact well established, their nationals are also responsible for the B-A-D attacks. The ISI, which more or less runs Pakistan has openly supported the jehadi’s and the mujahideen’s. The country is in such a situation, that there is no single credible power center. If India has to conduct a dialogue with Pakistan, who would India talk to? The ISI chief?  General Kayani? Gilani? Zardari?  Pakistan’s biggest problem is its own existence. It is a country which was formed on the basis of hatred and intolerance. A country formed on the basis of religious intolerance, A country which has been plagued by selfish and ruthless leaders hungry for power, with no democratic process, and which has been under a martial rule more than a democratic rule. Hence it is no surprise to see the country behave the way it does. It is the epitome of a failed rogue state, with no semblance of a responsible rule in sight even in the distant future.

And to add to the complexity of the already prevalent uncertain scenario, the IPL auctions have been blamed to further the rift between the two nations. In my opinion, IPL is better off without any Pakistani players in it. Pakistani players are no saints, and are known to spew venom against India on many occasions. Whether it was a business decision, or a political decision, I am proud of what the IPL franchisee’s did, shunning the Pakistani’s. If the Pakistani’s feel insulted and outraged, let them. The Pakistani players went on record saying they will never play in India again, only to change tracks and harp the ‘give peace a chance‘ tune. One of the Pakistani player even when on to say, “Hinduo ki zehmiyat hi aisi hai“, and all this with talks about separating politics/religion and sports in the background.

Pakistan has its own distorted history, where children are taught that India represents Hindu’s and Pakistan represents muslims. Any country which preaches hatred towards a particular religion, and vilifies it by spreading negative and false propaganda would do more harm to itself than anyone else.  Pakistan is on the topgear to destruction now. There is no way the country can now pick up the pieces and start itself afresh, unless there is a major shift in the ideology, which is highly unlikely.

India must have the courage, and more importantly the resolve, to sort out all pending issues with Pakistan in an organised manner, seal the borders by building concrete boundaries and then cut off all ties with them forever. That is the only way ‘Aman‘ can happen in this region. Otherwise, its only A Monkey Asha.

Aman ki Ashes. Amen.

Dude.. This article is pretty impressive.. Of course, the outrage and the anger percolates through and through. We cannot expect folks of our standing to clutch to diplomatic nuances when dealing with Pakistan.. You got the issues and the problems right. Lets hope the Politicos get the solutions right…
